Here’s the bottom line. Los Angeles Sheriffs Deputies arrived at the scene after the pursuit (chase) where CHP deployed spike strips to end the chase in the northbound lanes of the I-5 Freeway near Lake Hughes Road in Castaic, California.
LASD said they couldn’t take credit for the ending but gives full credit to the super fast California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers. LASO county authorities transported the 3 suspects to county lockup.
It was Tuesday 2019/08/20 and shortly before 8:00 P.M. Pacific time, when LASD deputies tried to stop the driver of the white Dodge Challenger in West Hollywood. They were believed to be burglary suspects. The driver did not pull over and the pursuit began. Reported speeds in the chase reached over 140 mph at one point. Eventually, The California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit with the LA County Sheriff’s helicopter continuing with the pursuit helping the CHP. It ended with the CHP deploying spike strips. The driver finally pulled over to the shoulder and all three people surrendered and were taken into custody at approximately 8:20 PM.
The suspects have not yet been identified by law enforcement. The investigation is ongoing.
