PAIR OF SHOOTING SUSPECTS ARRESTED AFTER FLEEING, CRASHING INTO DETECTIVE’S VEHICLE
Two shooting suspects are in custody this evening after they took off from Volusia sheriff’s deputies in Deltona, fled at high speeds across Interstate 4 and crashed into a Volusia detective’s vehicle in Seminole County, where both suspects were arrested without further incident.
The driver, Rayon Rattigan, 30 (DOB 6/14/1989), of Deltona, and passenger Jahqwane Tyson, 19 (DOB 9/15/2000), of Sanford, were taken into custody around 7:30 p.m. at State Road 46 and I-4, where Air One had followed their silver Honda Accord from the time it fled the area of Gloria Drive in Deltona a few minutes earlier. Deputies and detectives had been conducting surveillance on the vehicle in connection to investigations of multiple recent shooting cases in Volusia County.
In addition to his warrants for attempted first-degree murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling, Rattigan was charged with aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement and habitually driving with a suspended license. His speeds on I-4 were estimated in excess of 100 mph. Tyson was arrested on his own warrant on a charge of shooting into an occupied dwelling. Both are suspects in multiple shooting cases.

Don Maxwell, whose unmarked vehicle was involved in the crash, had minor injuries and was treated and released from the hospital Thursday night. Maxwell is a member of the U.S. Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force, which was working the case alongside the Sheriff’s Office.
As a precaution, both Rattigan and Tyson were taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital, where both were medically cleared and transported to the Seminole County Jail.
Sheriff Mike Chitwood commended all involved in the investigation and apprehension of both suspects: “Our deputies went home safe, and two shooting suspects went to jail – that’s a win for the citizens of Volusia County, and I couldn’t be prouder of the work our deputies and detectives did tonight.”
At the time of the incident, Rattigan was out on bond in a previous case involving weapons and drug charges.
A handgun was observed in the vehicle, which was sealed and transported as evidence in the shooting investigations.
Rattigan’s criminal history includes 33 felony charges with 11 convictions and 15 misdemeanor charges with 7 convictions. His prior charges include
battery, fleeing, resisting with violence, trafficking in heroin and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Tyson’s criminal history includes 6 felony charges including armed trafficking in heroin and possession of meth/cocaine with intent to sell.
