5-3-19 Detroit police chase

Shots were fired Monday afternoon during a police chase in Detroit that ended with one suspect in custody.

Detroit police and Michigan State Police troopers pursued the driver of a gray Dodge Journey on I-75 near Springwells for several minutes and continued following the vehicle after it exited the freeway, according to a report from WJBK-TV. The vehicle was rammed several times by police cars before being blocked in, the station reported. 

The driver nearly pinned an officer against a concrete wall, according to Fox 2. 

Shots were fired. WDIV-TV reported that a passenger in the SUV was killed and the driver was taken to a hospital. 

A suspect was seen exiting the vehicle and walking over to officers with his hands up, WJBK reported. He was arrested.
